ABOUT "SLAVE SPIRIT SPEAKS"
----------------------------------------------------------
AUTHOR'S NOTE
We, the descendants of African slaves are an ongoing miracle verging on martyrdom.
I invite you to look into the narrow window of Black History at the condition of frustration in which Western Africans were created. Our history and our collective consciousness contains the answers to specific questions, which have remained unanswered, because only few attempts are made to organize and make systematic or scientific use of our potential source of information.
My book SLAVE SPIRIT SPEAKS is in part a poetic blend of my very controversal Black History, and my unique spiritual and philosophical thoughts. The result, I hope, you will find empowering. It is also my hope that you will found my work thought-provoking, inspiring and titillating.
Using poetry, I attempted to give voice to the accomplishments, the devastations and the injustices that has contributed to the understated existence of Africans everywhere.
I hope my book will provide ample food for thought, and will prove as enriching an experience for you reading it, as it was for me writing it.

PROLOGUE
**************
I have always been deeply fascinated by the quest for truth and knowledge. My search has always been to find the meaning of life's absolute mysteries. Each civilization offers its own interpretations as being the one and only absolute truth. And every generation creates justifications and assumptions of truths to suit a personal or collective missions.
Over the last two thousand years our historic references have suggested that the active ‘Male Principle' of God in Heaven is solely responsible for the act of creation. It is undeniable that this historical prospective is at least, incomplete, and, at worst, distorted. We cannot doubt the existence of women as co-creator of life in the divine human drama. Since we are each born from a mother and it is not very difficult to envisage the prime creative principle in female form. However, our recent history has made careless assumptions debunking the function and contributions of women as co-creator of humanity , and our present civilization has imposed values and continues to offer inaccurate teachings about women's contributions.
But, should truth be told, the great creator was the Great Mother long before the notion of the Father God emerged. The demise of the sacred belief in Goddess coincides with the rise of the patriarchy. As Father God replaced Mother Goddess, and as the son of the father supplemented the daughter of the mother. As the Goddess was dethroned and her entourage removed from sacred office women fell from grace to disgrace. But at this point in history, the "Female Principle" is clearly re-emerging in human consciousness, and the time has come for us to recreate her story.
We are a civilization once again waking up to this invisible feminine essence, that breathes life into our actions, but most importantly, into our hidden or mysterious, ritualized, daily actions.
This moving spirit is far to illusive to touch or describe, but Feminism has done much to redress the imbalance. This movement has strived diligently to uncover both overt and covert ways in which women's freedom and contributions to history has been restricted in the past.
Today, their academic works are contributing to the revival of interest in the Goddess-based religions and customs of our past. A more accurate prospective, merges the active male principle of Father God with the receptive female principle of Mother Earth, to produce the duality of life. This new myth is a marriage into our human body. Thus God/dess is rendered gender less.
Although it can be said that we are well past the point where gender and color can be an adequate representative in the description of God. I do, however, choose to portray in this picturesque book, Divinity in color and gender, while at the same time keeping in mind that ultimately, the Principle, "GOD," implies both male and female, and is inclusive of all color, creed, and race.
My interest in this divine quest is neither academic or historical, it is fictional, poetic and purely creative.
In this multitask context, my focus is to represent the feminine aspects of divinity in a manner that will continue to elevate the stature and visibility of women in today's world. My intention is to create a feminine representation that is realistic, humorous, and natural to today's reality. One that is easily identifiable in each and every one of us. In doing so, I hope to foster a greater appreciation for the feminine by recreating her in all her array of her moods and colors, from white to black ebony. This realignment, I hope, will help to unshackle the omnipotent from the realm of fairy tale and history, and restore her to a place of creative reality and higher consciousness.
But how can one touch and describe that which has become as elusive as a woman's scent upon the wind of change? But with poetry. The Book Of Joy is therefore a picturesque metaphorical epic poem, intended for all to open the door through which we may enter into the joy of the divine feminine receptive heart. It's a gentle reminder that the feminine is, was, and will always be a legitimate member of the DIVINE. Not as a subjugated subordinate of the masculine, but Divinity in and of her own rights. It is also an attempt to re-unite the masculine with the feminine aspects of Divinity.
At this juncture I wish you enjoyment as you live in the joyful expression of this my created divine Feminine. Joy.

AUTHOR'S NOTE
The "I" speaking to you throughout this book is the spirit within your mental gaze, the feel within your heart.
This same "I" self is in constant conversation, arguing, praising, chiding, aiding and abiding, pointing out mistakes, weaknesses and strengths, condemning or encouraging you to live up to your ideals of God/dess, the divine omnipotent power.
This "I" is your own soul, your divine self, the real you. The all seeing "I" that causes you to breathe, and gives you the will to live. This same "I" has inspired me to write "The Book of Joy".
